Reveiw: Silent Hill Downpour

I don't think it's a secret that I love Silent Hill. Even tough there have been things in some games that annoyed me to hell, I've come to accept almost all of the games in the main series. Therefore I were quick to jinx the review for Downpour. And after playing trough the game and giving it some time to sink in, I'm now going to let you in on what I think about it.

Review: El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron

This is a peculiar one. It feels like it just came out of the blue and everyone forgot about it reasonably quickly. Why is beyond me, as I’ve never seen anything quite like this gorgeous marvel. No, this is not just a pretty game with no depth. This is a genuine A rank game, and I fail to see how so many seem to have passed this one up. I admit when I played the demo for the first time I was lost regarding the storyline and battles where you seemingly were supposed to die, but I was however taken aback by the esthetic visuals.

Review: Resident Evil: Revelations

Survival Horror. A genre that is getting less and less attention from developers every year, franchises turning into pure action shooters is nothing new and it seems like we might have to accept that its era might have passed. But with Resident Evil: Revelations, Capcom has promised to change this. Advertised as a true Survival Horror game, the 3DS title chose to go against the style of the latest Resident Evil games, but is to its favour? Let's find out.

Review: Dead Rising 2

[This review was unfortunatly delayed last fall, due to a lack of content I decided to finish it up and release it now. Enjoy.]
I have been looking forward to Dead Rising 2 for as long as I possibly could have known of its existence. So now that it's here, it would be wrong of either of us to write the review without letting the other one doing so as well. With that said, enjoy the review!

Review: Manhunt 2

Manhunt 2 is somewhat famous, maybe not for it's story but rather for the attention it got from the media. Due to the violent turn of the first game in the series, Rockstar had to cut the violence down to a minimum in Manhunt 2 so they would be able to get an M- rating. Still, the game series has a pretty bad reputation even today. I myself never been one for these sort of violent games but still decided to give Manhunt 2 the chance it deserved.

Review: Tales of the Abyss

The Tales series is a franchise that has enjoyed constant high quality since it came along back in 1995, and its latest software here in the West is a port of a six year-old game, but definitely no different.

Game of the Year 2011: Genre Specific Awards

Allow me to explain how we will go about this. Basically, many months ago I made up a list of categories (divided into three sections, this is the first) for my fellow writers Jimmy, Anna, Marty and Jonis. We all filled in these as best we could and I will now present each choice that was made. There is no single winner here, just what we personally felt about genre specific games. From shooters to family games, here's the first part of Game of the Year 2011.

Review: Xenoblade Chronicles

Xenoblade Chronicles was one of the really big titles this year, and I understood why the day I got it. I’m aware I’m being fairly late with this, but I partly blame this game for being so immense that it’s ridiculous at times.

Review: F.3.A.R.

[This review was originally written in June as a video review but was lost, now that I've recovered the original script I've rewritten it to fit a regular text review. Enjoy.]
There's been two years since FEAR 2 Project Origin was released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows Live. Last week, Day One Studios took their shot at developing the latest sequel to the Monolith Software franchise with FEAR 3, alternatively named Fthreeaaeh... FffthreeAer... Fine, F.3.A.R. But I'm not calling it that!

Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I should not need to write an opening for this review, I've played Skyrim since 11/11/11 and yet the review has not arrived until now, is there a reason for this? No, except that I've been unsure how to begin telling you people about this game. It was my most anticipated game of 2011, it had a lot to live up to... And wow.

Review: Duke Nukem: The Doctor Who Cloned Me (DLC)

Well this came out of nowhere. In less than a week we had announcement and release of the first single-player DLC for Duke Nukem Forever. Now when Duke Forever launched back in May it was met with bad to luke-warm reception from most critics. I personally enjoyed it and found it very fun and one of the better games of the year so far. 7 months later I have dialed it back a few notches and noticed several flaws with the game, I still like it however. So I was very excited to see where the story brought us next. Well as I'm writing this I have not yet played the game. Nope, looking at the download screen. Being bored. Hit the jump for the actual review.

The AU Podcast - 11.12.11: The VGA's SUCKED! (with Jonathan Holmes!)

The Achievement Unlock Podcast return, starring Tobbii Karlsson as the host with Anna Råberg and Destructoid's Jonathan Holmes as guests. Tonights topic is the Spike Video Game Awards, although only a good 15% or so goes to actually talking about the VGA's, because they're really not that interesting to discuss once push comes to shove. Enjoy!

Where's the sky reviews?

Skyrim and Skyward Sword. First game has been out for a good 2 weeks and Skyward Sword for 1 week. Where's the reviews? Well I'm working on it, I've finished Skyrim since a while back and I'm preparing the review, it'll be a long one since I've played almost 200 hours in preperation!

As for Skyward Sword, well I'm working on it. I don't have my copy yet, I've given it a head-start on my brother's copy but I can't say I've worked out the controls yet, I think I might have to re-do the tutorial.

Review: Sonic Generations

So here I am taking a day off from my GAMEX writing to play a game. That game is Sonic Generations, the 20th anniversary celebration game for our dear hedgehog. Last year we had titles like Sonic 4 and Sonic Colours that I just so happened to score the same, a good 7.5 out of 10. Will Sonic Generation top its two elder brothers? Might it even go so far as to make it to the Sonic hall of fame? Read on to find out.
