Where's the sky reviews?

Skyrim and Skyward Sword. First game has been out for a good 2 weeks and Skyward Sword for 1 week. Where's the reviews? Well I'm working on it, I've finished Skyrim since a while back and I'm preparing the review, it'll be a long one since I've played almost 200 hours in preperation!

As for Skyward Sword, well I'm working on it. I don't have my copy yet, I've given it a head-start on my brother's copy but I can't say I've worked out the controls yet, I think I might have to re-do the tutorial.

Review: Sonic Generations

So here I am taking a day off from my GAMEX writing to play a game. That game is Sonic Generations, the 20th anniversary celebration game for our dear hedgehog. Last year we had titles like Sonic 4 and Sonic Colours that I just so happened to score the same, a good 7.5 out of 10. Will Sonic Generation top its two elder brothers? Might it even go so far as to make it to the Sonic hall of fame? Read on to find out.

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Super Mario 3D Land

I was not a fan of Super Mario Galaxy. Right there you can tell that I'm in a minority when it comes to Mario games. My favourite ones are Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Sunshine. That's right, Super Mario Sunshine. So when I say Super Mario 3D Land is the first Mario game that has me really hyped in a long time, it's kind of big deal. I got to play two stages, let's not waste any more time. Let's-a Go! (Yes, I know I already did that joke in a earlier preview, I should have saved it for this.)

GAMEX 2011 - Preivew: Luigi's Mansion 2

Luigi's Mansion 2 is one of my most anticipated games for next year, I said so several times during the E3 Podcast back in June. Well I finally got my hands on the demo at GAMEX. So how did it fair, well you know the deal by now, watch the video and read my impressions. Let's-a Go!

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Kid Icarus has had a hard time as a franchise. The original game met with decent success, but the sequel for the Gameboy is something a lot of people don't even know exists. The inclusion of a redesigned Pit in Super Smash Brothers. Brawl certainly helped boost the series popularity again however and Nintendo finally answered by letting Masahiro Sakurai get his hands on the franchise. Was it for the better? Time will tell, but for now, let's have a look at the demo I played.

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Ninja Gaiden 3 (On Hard Mode)

Ninja Gaiden 3 is hard. I don't need to tell you guys that, right? Well at GAMEX I was issued a challenge by the piblisher that if I managed to beat the first stage on hard without dying once in one sitting I'd actually win the retail game once it launches next year. How cool is that? Did I make it? See for yourself.

GAMEX 2011 - Mini-Interview: Yoshie-San about Soul Calibur V

I met Yoshie-san from Project Soul at GAMEX, after the Soul Calibur V press conference (Video coming later this week) I talked to him for a few minutes before the Namco people wouldn't let him speak longer. This is what him and I spoke about before we had to part ways. Then we met again and he signed my Soul Calibur V mini-poster. *SQUEAL!!*

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Raving Rabbids: Alive and Kicking

Oh dear, how do I even begin to write this. The Rabbids were meant to be the enemies of Rayman in Rayman IV, Rayman IV became a new game based around playing minigames and was a lot of fun. The Rabbids spun off on their own little franchise of minigames and it started losing its touch. Then they turned it into a platformer that was actually kind of neat and now it's back to minigames... Using the Kinect. I got to play one minigame, take a look for yourself.

GAMEX 2011: Dance-off 2011

Last year the battle stood on Michael Jackson: The Experience for the Wii, this year we take it to full-body levels with Dance Central 2 on Kinect for Xbox 360. Once again it's me (Tobbii) versus Anna as Jimmy was busy playing some other "core-gamer" title like Diablo III or something. Pfft! Coward I tell you! The song is Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, the stage is set, let us dance.

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Sonic Generations

I am not one of the people who yells and brings up the Sonic Cycle every time a new Sonic game is announced, I've actually enjoyed a lot of the later games. Sonic 4 and Sonic Colours were okay games, I really liked Sonic Unleashed and I can't say I disliked playing Sonic and the Secret Rings back in 2007. So I'm not one to say Sonic's been on a path of destruction, but nonetheless this is what most people seem to think and this game, Sonic Generations, is the game to break that path and set things straight once again. I tried the Sky Sanctuary stage and... Well see for yourself.

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded

Well isn't this funny. Last GAMEX we tried out GoldenEye 007 for the Wii, this is the HD port of that Wii remake of the Nintendo 64 game based on the movie of the same name. I decided to go against my better judgement and toss stealth aside, watch me go all guns blazing in the Facility level, let's check it out!

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: Mario Kart 7

Mario Kart is never bad (Tobbii's Note: Unless it's Double Dash) but it has had it's ups and downs over the years. This December we all get to give the latest game a shot, the oddly named Mario Kart 7 hits stores and it seems to be shaping up nicely...

GAMEX 2011 - Preview: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I love The Legend of Zelda, my fav. title is Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker. When I heard Skyward Sword borrowed some from both of those games I was very pleased. On Day 1 of GAMEX 2011 I had a chance at trying out the game, I fought Lord Ghirahim... Things did not go that well.

GAMEX 2011: Gallery of Cosplayers

Cosplay! I love cosplay, do you love copslay? Of course you do. Good. So here's a gallery of the various cosplayers at GAMEX 2011 that we could find and get pictures of. The photos are shot by me (Tobbii) and Jimmy, but Anna just so happens to be one of the cosplayers! Hit the jump to see all the various costumes, some are just pretty dress-up, but most of them are dressed videogame characters, can you spot them all? I'd say that some of them are tricky.

It all hits the fan...

Tobbii here. As you might now we were suppose to have a 4 day coverage of GAMEX 2011. Well we would have, except things went wrong in this order:

  1. AU-Harddrive broke down.
  2. Internet would not work as it should.
  3. Once it did I could not properly convert the files for editing.
  4. By the time I could even get started on fixing this it was time for the next day.
  5. The bottom of the camera broke so we had to go handy-cam.
Also, since the AU-Harddrive completely broke down, I've lost all my assets and things for Achievement Unlock. This means the site will be rebuilt for new content as I start working on the GAMEX coverage, which will be uploading during the following week. I apologize for this inconvenience, but it was all unforseen consequences.

We still have some great things in store for you guys including Diablo III impressions, Soul Calibur 5 conference footage, a interview about Gamers X-Mas and another one with cosplay-sensation Jenni Källberg!
